How do you know? Why would it index non-text files? It is the ideal method
to search your computer for certain words, and if i were the nsa i would
use it.

yes, but why are so much of these costumizations so hidden and difficult
acccess, why arent we provided with a full manual in the help from scratch?
Stripped down versions run faster. indexing services consumes a lot of
horsepower when browsing through your image files, as is the thumbnail
maker. In windows a lot of services are running automatically without any
need if you just want to do image editing. On the net you can find lots of
info on optimizing windows, and in some cases this achieves more than bying
more memory or a faster processor.
