Self booting image from flash? | |

hi,
I am a newbie to eCos. We are trying to port eCos on VIA board(x86). the hardware has not yet arrived. So i decided to test the programs on PC target.
Can we make a self booting ecos image from flash instead of floppy. I have tried the self booting image from floppy and it is working fine. Or Do we require the redboot already loaded on the flash beforehand?
any guidance will be helpful.
