i think it was a general issue with block-ciphers, as detailed here: http://www.cryptolabs.org/aes/WeisLucksAESattacksDS1202.html (in german, look for the "Alternativen" part of the essay)
ack again, different algos -> common sense. in fact, i only know of multi enc using the same algo in theory, not one single real world case.
