6-8 Dot Braille entry with any keyboard

We will need such a facility with BrailleBlaster. It will work on the 
release codes of keys. The collection of dots will be considered 
complete when the last key pressed simultaneously has been released. I 
wish to do this in C as an addition to the liblouis suite. Does anything 
like this exist? What C functions wilol detect the press and release 
codes?
