We [my team, anyway] implemented this for RAID1 mirrors on Adaptec
HostRAID arrays and sent the patches to this list on 30 August.  See
"[PATCH] 0/6: ASR reconfiguration" by Adam DiCarlo.  Unfortunately, the
only hardware that I have in my lab is Adaptec HostRAID and various
(newer) Adaptec DDF controllers.

To my knowledge Heinz hasn't put the patches into any release yet.
