Recommended ATA-RAID controller ?

Hello -


I made the mistake of assuming that hardware raid was hardware raid, and bought a motherboard with on-board Promise Ultra ATA/133.

Live and learn - but now I'd like to get a true hardware RAID controller, and I'm hoping to get some guidance.  Any suggestions for a controller that the stock Red Hat 8 installer recognizes and installs onto, without any gymnastics required?

And - if anyone's feeling indulgent - any idea if it will be possible to boot off of this external controller?  The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7DPXDW-P ATA 133 D.
