Asterisk 10.4-rc1 does work, so it should be a matter of identifying the
problem and backporting the fix.

Keep in mind that the T.38 gateway code was reworked rather substantially when it was merged into Asterisk 10; the last version that irroot published for Asterisk 1.8 was long before this rework occurred. It's quite unlikely that locating a simple difference will actually occur, or that it would be easy to backport.
