Help! The system goto dead when I run command tar

Guys:
    My embedded platform is AT91SAM9260 CU / Linux-2.6.21 (Support  YAFFS)
/Samsung K9F1208UOC PCB0. It is working after I download a tar package in
the ramdisk. But when I run 'tar -xzvf file' the unzip the package  into
nandflash, the process is interrupted and the system is dead.
    Guys, Pleas give me some suggestion. Thanks a lot!
