creating a flashimage

Dear All,

I have a root filesystem consisting of various folders such as
/dev,/usr,/var,/etc,/home,/dev and remaining all folders as .tar.gz.I want
to create a flashimage of this root filesystem ,which then i can burn on
flash.Is there any way or tools available to create the flashimage of this
root file system.

PLease guide me on this issue.I have no idea on how to proceed further.
