Again: http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html http://www.opensource.org/docs/osd http://www.opensource.org/licenses OSI-approved licenses usually also fit into the definition of Free Software. BSD and MIT licensed software is not copylefted but still Free as in "Free Software" or "Free Speech". The difference between "Free Software" and "Open Source" is not a licensing question. It's a question of politics. While the Free Software Foundation promotes the idea of Free Software for Free People in a Free World (you get the idea) the OSI simply tries to promote a software development model and sell it to the business world. The goals and approaches are very different but if you leave politics aside you end up with mostly the same licenses and the same software. Sorry for being a nitpicker, but "Linux is not Free, Linux is Open Source" is as wrong as saying "Linux is not Open Source, Linux is Free". regards, Andreas Micklei P.s.
