Linux is licensed software, just like the Windows operating system is
licensed software.  The license attached to Linux is an Open Source
license, specifically a slightly modified GPL version 2, which must be
abided by if you wish to keep using the software.  It is not a "do as
you see fit anything goes" license.

Therefore, Linux is NOT free software.  It is Open Source software.
