Re: No console on SMDK2440 Board boot

I removed devfs and now get "VFS: Cannot open root device "mtdblock/2" or unknown block(2,0)". I've noticed I haven't got any mtd entries in /dev so maybe devfs was handling mtd in the absence of /dev/mtd nodes. I'll add mtd nodes to /dev and see what happens.

I'm on 2.6.10 because when I tried 2.6.20.1 I didn't see any boot messages. Using GDB I could see it was trying to boot in the background and failed to boot but I couldn't see why it failed to boot because of no boot messages. If I set the wrong mach type in r1 it did give me a serial port error message so the serial port was working. My 2.6.10, supplied by Samsung and modified by them to add support for various SMDK2440 devices (which probably rely on devfs), at least gives me boot messages so I'm trying to get 2.6.10 to boot correctly then going back to 2.6.20.1 (or whatever the head is now). I'm new to Linux - it's a bit of a challenge isn't it? ;)

Mounted devfs on /dev

You're sure that devfs isn't the problem? Try disabling this option,
since it's no longer supported in newer kernels anyway. (Btw, you might
want to try one of those. ;)
