Problem with File System in Linux kernel

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I am very new in embedded design. I have a AT91RM900 EK board and I want to add to it a Wi-Fi module with USART interface and implement the communication between them. I have downloaded a 1.1.5 u-boot and the 2.6.20 kernel successfully compiled. The kernel boots until appears the following error:

No filesystem could mount root, tried: ext2 cramfs
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0)

I had a ramdisk and I applied to it the mkimage tool and then, I downloaded the obtained image. But when I try to boot the kernel and the ramdisk with bootm and the two memory addresses, the kernel doesn't detect the ramdisk and the same error appears.

I would like to know from where I could download a ramdisk or how to build it for my board. I know that there are several types of file systems: ext2, cramfs, jssf2, but I don't know how to build them.

Thanks in advance,

Javier
