verifone mx800 toolchain

hi,
we have received  a  verfone mx800 device which has a tool chain built for
cygwin. but  now we have to port a jvm on to it. and this is proving
a bit difficult as almost all the packaged that we came across either
claimed that cygwin port is broken or not maintained. we are thus trying to
build a toolchain for the device using crossstool. the existing one is built
with uClibc. has anyone worked with this device and do u have any hints
to get a working toolchain? thanks
