Hi Major number are needed in register_chrdev, minor number
You're right in one way that register_chrdev will accept a specific Major number if you wish to use it. It also has the ability of you not asking for a particular Major number and having the system assign one to you. Minor numbers are usually used if you have a multifunction device. -- ~ Ashwin ------------------------------------------------------------------- List admin: http://lists.arm.linux.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/linux-arm FAQ: http://www.arm.linux.org.uk/mailinglists/faq.php Etiquette: http://www.arm.linux.org.uk/mailinglists/etiquette.php
