What do you mean by replace? It's still in the kernel config, right?

So if I disable hotplug support in the kernel and don't use udev , the

USB device will still be detected (only the desired usb driver built).

Then, what are my options? Meaning, how is userspace notified of the device connected? Do I use netlink? If so, what do I connect to?
