Not the rtc, just the used system time of the OS.date -s STRING, where STRING is of the format MMDDhhmm[[CC]YY][.ss]]
Or if you want to keep the clock synchronised to the real time, NTP is your friend :)
I have an external I2C battery-backed RTC on my board from which I grab the inital time on bootup and save the current system time to on shutdown. I then use NTP to keep the system time in sync with Internet time servers.
I needed the external RTC because the it seems the AT91RM9200 doesn't have a provision for powering the RTC circuitry externally.
