For 2.6 kernels there is a new package module-init-tools which replaces
the old modutils and provides modprobe, insmod etc.

If you install the modutils files as e.g. /sbin/modprobe.old then the
module-init-tools /sbin/modprobe will call it if it detects a 2.4
kernel, for backward compatibility.
