soniqcast aireo with pxa255 and win ce 4.2 core

I was curious about possibly trying to install linux on my mp3 player...

It has a intel pxa255 and a win ce 4.2 core chip.

I was wondering though, what is the interaction between the pxa and ce core?

Is there some type of authentication between the two?  it has a 1" cornice 
1.5gb harddrive.

if i threw linux on the harddrive, would this cause the win ce rom to 
spontaneously combust?
