Installing ppp/pppd in arm-linux | |

I'm using an ARMCore CM-X255/ARMBase SB-X255 (Compulab) and have
been attempting to install ppp/pppd to enable usage of a PCMCIA modem
with the computer. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to cross
compile ppp for arm-linux, I was able to find an rpm for NetWinder
Linux (ARMcore Linux is based on NetWinder):
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/netwinder/netwinder/RPMS/nw/9/ppp-2.4.1-10.armv4l.html
Since the target does not have a package management tool (no rpm
support), I converted the rpm into a directory structure and installed
it to the target.
While trying to run pppd, I get the following error:
---code:----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
pppd: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3' not found (required by pppd)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It looks like my target has at least part of GLIBC_2.2, which would
suggest this is simply a version conflict, however I'm also concerned
that CompuLab may not have included a full copy of glibc. I could
perhaps search for an an older rpm of ppp for netwinder or attempt to
update my glibc to 2.3.xx. Any recommendations? Or if anyone has
used a similar modem configuration, your input may be very useful.
Thanks.
