Efficiant Messaging Framework | |

I'm searching for an efficient and lightweight user space
framework/library for messaging, something with a producer/consumer
model where I can register different threads or processes to some kind
of a message bus. As the highest possible event rate may be something
like 4 kHz under worst case conditions it would be good to have
something which doesn't involve kernel/userspace switches if not
necessary. Does anyone have an idea what I could use?
