Last I checked, MontaVista was still hawking a 2.6.10 kernel. If that is still the case, you're going to find that there is little this list will do for you. You need to work with MV and TI on this. Still, the question of SMP is simple to answer. You'll need a complete OS for each CPU. I know of no SMP support available for the ARM9's becase there would have to be logic for synchronizing caches.
