If I know that such dependencies exist, I'll merge everything into -mm
(which is one of the reasons why -mm is the "last" tree in the entire
stack).  Once the predecessor patches have gone into mainline I'll then
pass the successor patches over to the relevant subsystem maintainer.

I do this a lot, but if I didn't know about (or discover) the
depencencies or if I screw things up, stuff breaks.  Usually it works
out OK.
