Why would you want to run a 32bit version of Linux on an Opteron
system when there is a native 64bit version available?

While you may well get such a system working you basically will have a
one off system where no one will be able to help you if you do run
into troubles (ie. your system won't be Shrike or GinGin64, it will in
essence be a custom version of Linux with no support).
