I got 2 Opteron servers, both Dual Opteron and using RioWorks mobo, + 2 GB Ram, same cdrom, just diff Harddrive , 1 I'm using the Onboard SerialATA controller + Western digital Raptor 10K Hdd, the other one is using my old Adaptec 29160 SCsi card + Fujitsu 15K 18 GB HDD (just to test it out, and that's the only spare hardware I have that time) Because Promise refuse to answer my email about "are you planning to release the driver or source for the drivers so I can make them on my own?" , that means no driver for SATA controller and there's no way for me to install it with GinGin. (I shouldn't trust Promise again in the first place, since they tricked me back to the days when IDE came not long ago, oh well, no more crap from promise) The other server, the Adaptec 7xxxx driver completely failed to load with no error message, I didn't do the Ctrl-alt-Fx yet, because I gave up at first after 20 times of reinstall/loading drivers, so I threw Windows2K on it just for temporary, and push both of them to my MFN colo space(because I need them that time) These 2-3 weeks I got some time and I think tomorrow or monday I'm going to take the SCSI one back, and try a few more things, and I'll post up my results here again. I think You're not alone with SCSI problems(at least I'm part of the group, although diff SCSI adapter) Jackson T Administrator
