Skybus launched service from its Columbus hub in May 2007, offering some
seats for as little as $10 each way, plus taxes and fees.
The airline announced on March 24 that its chief executive, Bill
Diffenderffer, resigned to return to a career as an author.
The company has endured some bumps since it began flying. Skybus
reported a loss of $16 million during its first three months of operation.
Over two days during Christmas week, Skybus canceled up to a quarter of
its flights because of problems with two of its planes. Recently, it has
been dropping flights and destinations because of high fuel costs.
