Note that Dell does do stuff to support Linux. Matt Domsch has done a 
significant amount of work for Fedora, has helped with a tool to allow 
one to do firmware upgrades without needing to boot DOS or Windows and 
has worked a device naming change to help with managing servers with 
multiple network cards.

They may not support normal end users directly, but they do make it possible 
for the distros to do some stuff for their users that would otherwise 
be harder to do.
