Yumex fails to validate user

When I start yumex it runs up to the point of validating the user but
never puts up the box asking for my password; and then hangs.  Looks
like a library problem.  Here are the messages produced when yumex is
invoked from a console.

$ yumex

Any ideas for a cure?
