As we approach FC6 Test2, we should make a decision wrt RHL7.3/9 and FC1/2.
I say this as a current RH73 user... The time has come to leave RH73 and focus on doing a solid job with the Fedora releases. My issue with continuing legacy RH73 _usage_ is centered around these points:
-Supported application versions are getting very old and I see more and more difficulty in backporting fixes. Other than the kernel, and the standard unix utilities, my RH73 systems look nothing like RH73. They are peppered with custom compiled applications of Apache, Mailman, Sendmail, Postfix, and Bind9 simply because RH73 versions are either non-existent or not new enough to support secondary apps like DKIM, Python2.4 etc. -Those that are still running RH73 systems should now probably be more concerned with potential for hardware failure of those systems rather than OS updates. -Those that run RH73 systems, including myself, have had a long time now to prepare for this day. Finally, I would like to say a sincere thanks to you Jesse for your leadership with Fedora Legacy over the past several years, through several evolutionary cycles. Additionally thanks also go out to Marc Deslauriers for his significant effort towards getting updates out the door and notifying everyone. Pekka Savola also earns my deep respect for his efforts towards organization of bug data and helping to keep everyone on track. Rob Myers, David Eisenstien, and Eric Rostetter also deserve a lot of credit for their never ending efforts to find and address issues, as well as helping users such as myself. Thank you all for your dedication and unwavering efforts.
