The folks that set the rules for the elections are the folks voted into the various committees. I was involved in the recent changes to the FAmSCo election rules and we did do that by committee. Again, the point here is that if you voted someone in, you essentially trust them to perform these actions to make sure the work is getting done. I am happy with the results we've seen in the changes, though I do wish more people would vote as well.Arguably it would be better to just have a single dedicated "election committee" for the project in whole thus eliminate any differences in governing body's voting process we currently have and might have in the future to smooth the election process and the learning curve that goes with it for the nominees and the voters. As a multi-term election wrangler I want to be clear that the election wrangler organizes the election and coordinates with all the concerned parties but does not set election rules. The election rules are set by each governance body to suit their needs.
It kinda goes without saying that with an specific "election committee" design to slim line and manage the whole election process, each governance body would no longer be able to adjust the rules to suit their needs...
Be aware though that the eligible voters are not the same for each governance body so this could be a little tricky.
Arguably eligible voters and nominees should always be the same for each governance body as in anyone from within the community can run for anything and vote on anything ( One thing I think should be fixed in the election process ).
I think it would be more convenient for those who do participate and even if it didn't increase participation I think it is a pretty good idea anyway. I am not sure how hard it might be to change the voting app to accommodate it though.
I guess we need input from the writer(s) of that app at this point =) JBG _______________________________________________ advisory-board mailing list advisory-board@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/advisory-board
