Just for the fun of it last night I tried to compile the
stock 2.6.14. I would not boot but I think the problem
is related to udev 039 installed while 058 is listed as
minimum as it choked mounting devices.

I cannot get the 2.5.12 to compile as it hangs in the smp.c
routine.
